Hanwha Phasor welcomed local MP, Lucy Frazer to officially open its new facility in Cambridge Science Park.
Hanwha Phasor develops enterprise-grade antennas for satellite communications on the move – in flight, on land or at sea. Opening a second site in Cambridge, Hanwha Phasor is poised to contribute to the region’s thriving innovation ecosystem, bringing exciting opportunities for local professionals and industry.
On her visit to the site, Ms Frazer was able to see the team responsible for the design and development of custom ASIC chips for Hanwha Phasor’s satellite communications capabilities. The custom-designed ASIC chips from Cambridge, allow Hanwha Phasor to tackle power consumption issues that have previously created significant barriers in the satcom industry.
Since Hanwha Phasor’s move into the UK market three years ago the company has grown significantly, seeing its number of employees rise from 9 to 90. The advanced manufacturing capabilities provided by the dedicated team in Cambridge will allow Hanwha Phasor to continue this growth trajectory.
Ms Frazer’s visit highlighted not only the importance of Hanwha Phasor’s role going forward for the UK space industry, but also the benefits of the company’s move for generating high-skilled jobs and prosperity in Cambridge. Hanwha Phasor is committed to driving local long-term growth and has to date invested considerably in the area.
